Who We Are
James, Velox and James is an independent social research consulting partnership. The research consulting
partnership provides professional services to clients in the government, public and private sector.
Poverty and social inequality in the United States and around the world are common place particularly in rural
communities. Despite policy reforms and the increasing investment in social programs and projects developed
to address health and socio-economic issues are not producing expected outcomes.
Although multicultural groups make up 30% of the population, fewer than 10% of the management in private
personnel in, public, private and government organizations are members of these groups and fewer in
directorial and managerial positions across all disciplines, have received any meaningful training in cultural
competence. This translates to insensitivity to important cultural values and needs in the development of social
and health programs which significantly reduce the opportunity for successful outcomes. Demographic trends
indicate that by year 2050, one of every two U.S. Workers will be African American, Hispanic, Asian, Pacific
Islander or Native American. Shortfalls in health disparities, health insurance, education, social welfare,
mental health must be addressed to keep current
Multicultural populations in America currently suffer and die from socio-economic inequality for which there are
solutions and health problems that are treatable.

Socioeconomic factors coexist with epidemiology risk factors for African American, American Indian and Alaska
Native communities and other minority groups. This is a primary cause for the inequality in social services and
public health programs in the U.S.
Example: AIDS in 2004
American Indian and Alaska Native adults and adolescents: 9.9 per 100,000 persons
African American adults and adolescents: 72.1 per 100,000 persons
Hispanic adults and adolescents 25.0 per 100,000 persons
White adults and adolescents: 07.1 per 100,000 persons
Asian and Pacific Islanders 04.1 per 100,000 persons
* Statistics taken from the Center For Disease Control and Prevention.
Disparities in epidemiology and response to available health care systems may in part be related to poverty,
lower levels of education and poorer access to health care. However recent research also indicate the
possibilities of inherited trauma, excessive stress, bio-behavioral elements and environments that effect
physiological systems over time. In order truly address health disparities and inequality we simply need more
information with which to develop more effective social and rural public health programs
We work independently and in collaborative efforts with federal and non federal agencies and universities. Our
focus is the development of new strategies, solutions and improved outcomes for social services and public
health, effecting rural public health, minority and special populations. Our mission is improved national and
international social services and community programs through multicultural training, and community based
social and cultural research.
In the quiet of the American Conscience, we know that deep persistent poverty is unworthy of our Nation’s promise.”
